Mauna Kea Big Island Hawaii
In 2018 The Big Island experienced one of its largest eruptions of our lifetime. Kilauea Volcano erupted creating over 20 fissures in the Puna distraction the east side of the island. ne of the largest fissures which created the most impact was Fissure 8. In this image I captured the tip of the summit of Mauna Kea which is hi above the clouds. As you can see in the photo that you can see the glow from Fissure 8 through the clouds. The landscape is lit up by the rising full moon and the last light from the setting sun. This was a once in a lifetime photo which I was very happy to capture. Photo © copyright by The Edge Explorer.
