Top 10 Best Selling Photographs of 2021

2021 was an exciting year for photography. Here is a list of my top 10 selling photographs of 2021.

1. Laupahoehoe Rainbow

    Laupahoehoe Rainbow

Laupahoehoe Point is a place of beauty. The coastline has interesting sharp jagged rocks and turquoise ocean water. It is one of my favorite places to shoot on the east side of the Big Island of Hawaii. On this day, I was blessed with the most magnificent rainbow I had ever seen.

    2. Hilo Bay Sunset

    3. Galaxy Gazing Honu

    Galaxy Gazing Honu

When the lights go out and everyone leaves the beach, these amazing Honu (hawaiian green sea turtles) make their way onto the sand to start their relaxation. On a clear night, one can see the Milky Way along the beautiful stretch of beach in Waikoloa on the Big Island of Hawaii. The moon setting illuminates the beach creating a magical scene.

    4. Colorful Giants

Colorful Giants | Hawaii Rainbow Eucalyptus Tree Photos

In this photo, I captured a vibrant rainbow eucalyptus tree. The fallen maroon bark of the rainbow eucalyptus tree covers the floor around the tree. This photo was taken on the Big Island of Hawaii. I have seen rainbow eucalyptus trees on Maui, Kauai, Big Island, and Oahu.

    5. Moonbows Soaring Over Volcanoes

    Moonbow's Soaring Over Volcanoes

On the summit of Kilauea, amazing things happen. Halemau'uma'u crater glows red from the fountaining lava feeding the lava lake below. Another anomaly forms in a cooler region across the large caldera just a mile or two away. A moonbow has appeared from the cold mist blowing in being illuminated by the bright moon setting. These are unique scenes that make the Big Island of Hawaii genuinely unique. I am not sure if a similar scene unfolds anywhere else in the world.

    6. Honu Rainbow

A Honu (Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle) rests after a long day on the west side of the Big Island. In this image, a beautiful rainbow appeared as the sun started to set over the Kona coastline. Scenery like this is what makes Hawaii a true paradise on earth.

    7. Vibrant Volcanoes

    Vibrant Volcanoes

The crater floor at the summit of Kilauea volcano fills with fog and moonlight, resulting in a vibrant double moonbow.

    8. Keaukaha

    Keaukaha

Seascape is one of my favorite views to capture in my imagery. Every once in a while, the unexpected happens, and I am gifted with the most perfect of conditions. In this photo, I had the opportunity to shoot a double rainbow right outside of Richardson Beach Park. With the sun setting behind me and an incoming storm closing in on my location, I had a few minutes to photograph this magnificent rainbow before having to pack up and seek shelter from the rain. It was a completely unexpected scene that I was happy to have witnessed.

    9. Lost Sanctuary

    Lost Sanctuary

Kapoho Tide Pools was a little marine sanctuary located in the Puna District of the Big Island. It was known for its beautiful coral and a variety of reef fish. As of June 2018, I am sad to say that lava from the 2018 Kilauea eruption coming from fissure #8 in Leilani Estates made its way to the ocean, taking out Kapoho Tide Pools.

    10. South Point Sunset

    South Point Sunset

South Point is the most southern part of Big Island, Hawaii and a popular place to fish. In this image, I captured a hazy sunset at one of my favorite spots to watch the ocean swell. The waters are deep and very blue here. It’s always interesting to see what the fishermen will pull up from the cliffside.
